The program begins with Early Neurological Stimulation shortly after birth, commonly called the Super Dog Program, which involves specific handling exercises during a narrow developmental window. As the puppies mature, the training approach shifts to include socialization with different people and environments, desensitization to common household sounds and surfaces, and the introduction of foundational commands that prepare the puppy for family life. What Happens Before a Puppy Leaves the Farm
The Puppy Starter Program operates on a timeline tied to developmental stages, not calendar weeks. Early Neurological Stimulation occurs during the first days of life, when puppies are still entirely dependent on the mother. As they gain mobility and awareness, they begin exposure to varied surfaces, sounds, and handling by multiple people. By the time a puppy reaches placement age, it has already encountered scenarios that would otherwise cause hesitation or stress in an untrained dog.
After completing the program, puppies recognize verbal cues, respond to their names, and show familiarity with crate environments and basic leash pressure. They have been handled by children and adults, exposed to common household noises like vacuums and dishwashers, and conditioned to different flooring types and outdoor terrain. The result is a puppy that integrates into a family routine with less confusion and fewer behavioral setbacks during the critical adjustment period.

When the puppies begin weaning at around 3 weeks old, we use puppy food to lure them into positions. This teaches bite inhibition and helps them learn how to take a treat gently from a hand. We also introduce trays containing horse pellets for the puppies to use as litter boxes. This teaches them not to mix clean and dirty areas, which can make house training easier for their families.
While the puppies are in the nursery, we play desensitizing sounds that include fireworks, gunshots, babies crying, busy streets, parks, and restaurants. These early experiences introduce puppies to sounds they may encounter after leaving the farm.
Group work begins at 5 weeks old, followed by one-on-one training at 6 weeks old. By 7 weeks old, the puppies know “sit” with both verbal and nonverbal hand commands, have started working on a leash, know their names, and come when called.
Families can also mail care packages containing T-shirts sealed in a baggie with their scent. We use the shirts during the week before pickup to help the puppy become familiar with the scent of its new family. On pickup day, we teach families how to continue what we have started.
Your puppy will never leave our home for starter training. All training is completed here by me and my family, and puppies are ready to go home during the normal pickup period between 7 and 9 weeks of age.

Starter Training for Future Service and Hunting Work
We do not train adult service dogs. We are puppy starters who prepare and desensitize young puppies that may continue into service work in the future.
We also do not provide hunting training ourselves. We work closely with a local trainer who trains all of our hunters.
